WordPress Security Guides
Practical, sourced guides for small business owners who look after a WordPress site, written in Australian English and checked against official guidance.
These guides are written for the person who ends up responsible for the website: an owner, an office manager, a marketing coordinator. They assume you are comfortable logging in to WordPress but not that you know what a database table is.
Each guide answers its question near the top, then explains the detail. Where we rely on a rule or a figure, we link to the source and say whether it is an official publication or a secondary summary. Nothing here is legal advice. Where a guide touches on privacy law or reporting duties, it points to the regulator so you can check the current position yourself.
If your site is in trouble right now, start with the signs of a hacked site and the first steps to take. If you are planning ahead, the hardening checklist and the guide to backups that restore are the best places to begin.
